It’s Here: A Work in Progress

Finally!

After months of recording, re-recording, mixing and re-mixing, I present to you my newest album: A Work in Progress.

The digital version can be downloaded now, and you can pay what you want, including nothing.

You can also pre-order a CD for 5€ (or more), which will be ready in 2-3 weeks.

I’ll be posting more detail about the album and the individual songs in future posts. For now, I’m just really happy to finally put this out there.

On a not-as-happy note, I was supposed to play a show together with Joe Czarnecki this Thursday at LUX, but it was cancelled. It seems LUX can’t have live music anymore…bummer. We’re looking to see if we can reschedule it somewhere else.

The Mixing Process Slowly Begins

Finally, I’m done with all the recording for the album.

I think.

I’m not too crazy about how two songs turned out, so I’m not to sure what to do with them right now: either re-record them or release them in the future.

But the rest are sounding great, and I’m really looking forward to finishing them and putting this record out.

So now I started the mixing/editing process. I still have a whole mess of takes to go through, so my brain is still adapting, but I’m slowly getting into a groove.

There are also a few gigs lining up for the coming months. The next one is at Noi on Nov. 9. More info on that soon…

Update: Four songs to go

Well, last week was pretty eventful. I had an awesome gig at Cafe Lyrik, and Sunday’s online gig for the Cafe Noodle Ustream Fest also went really well. It was a wonderful event to be a part of. Much props to Matt Stevens for organizing it.

I have to admit it was a bit strange playing to a computer screen and only getting visual feedback through a chat room window, but you get used to it. It’s definitely something that could be improved in the future; maybe have an “applause” button that cues recorded applause or shows a big thumbs-up sign on the screen.

Regardless, it was a great experience and I’ll definitely be doing it again in the not too distant future.

As far as the album goes, its going well. I already have three more songs recorded, and I have four more too go. I’m still not sure if they’ll all be on there, but I want to record them anyways. Then I can listen to them a bit more objectively before I make a final decision.

Gigs next week, both online and off

Next week should be interesting. I have a gig at Cafe Lyrik on Thursday the 16th at 20:00. You can find all the relevant info on the gigs page, or go to the Facebook event page.

And then on that weekend I’m taking part in the Cafe Noodle Ustream Festival. That’ll be an online festival done though Ustream, with donations in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

I still don’t know the time and day I’ll be playing, but I’ll post it here as soon as I know.

Coming in July

This month I’ll be playing at Manuela Tapas on Saturday the 24th. It’s a nice Spanish restaurant in Neukölln close to the Maybachufer, gemütlich and with very tasty food. I should have a few new songs to debut…always a bit nerve-wracking to play songs live for the first time.

In the meantime, here are some pictures from SideSeeing last Sunday:
